Professor Dr Md Nazrul Islam, distinguished teacher, researcher and longtime faculty member of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has passed away. He was 75.

He earned his PhD in applied chemistry from Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow, then USSR (currently Russia) and devoted his life to teaching, research, and generations of students.

He is survived by his wife, Dr Dipa Islam, daughter Dr Nabanita Islam, and grandson Aurik Shahriar.

He will be remembered with deep respect, affection, and gratitude by his family, students, colleagues, and all who knew him.
