Police seized 30,000 yaba pills from a car in Bandarban town today and arrested its driver.
The operation was conducted by Bandarban Sadar Police Station around 11:30am near the Traffic Mor of the district town, said Bandarban Superintendent of Police Wahabul Islam Khandaker.
Officers stopped a car and found 15 packets wrapped in adhesive tape inside a concealed compartment inside the rear seat. A total of 30,000 yaba tablets, including broken pieces, were recovered from the packets.
The estimated market value of the seized yaba is Tk 90 lakh, said police.
The tablets, along with the car and a mobile phone, were seized and Zakir was taken to the police station, said the SP.
Wahabul said the operation was part of intensified anti-drug drives in the district.
A case has been filed with Bandarban Sadar Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act in connection with the seizure, added the SP.
