The government has raised the minimum retail price of low-tier cigarettes by Tk 3 to Tk 65 per 10 sticks, just months after increasing cigarette prices in the national budget.

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) announced the latest price adjustment in a notification signed by its acting chairman, Ahsan Habib, on Wednesday. The notification was made public today.

The latest increase applies only to the low-tier segment, whose price was raised from Tk 60 to Tk 62 per 10 sticks in the budget for fiscal year 2026-27.

Prices in the other three tiers remain unchanged. Ten sticks of medium-tier cigarettes will cost Tk 92, while high-tier cigarettes will cost Tk 160 and premium-tier cigarettes Tk 210 or more.

In the FY27 budget, the government raised the prices of cigarettes across all four tiers. The price of medium-tier cigarettes increased from Tk 80 to Tk 92 per 10 sticks, while the high-tier price rose from Tk 140 to Tk 160.
